Sri Mulyani : The First Managing Director from Indonesian Woman

Sri Mulyani Indrawati (born in Bandar Lampung, Lampung, August 26, 1962, age 47 years) is the first Indonesian woman who once served as Managing Director of the World Bank. This position will be assigned starting June 1st, 2010. Previously, he served as Minister of Finance of the United Indonesia Cabinet. Once, he was based in the Office of the World Bank, he practically left his post as finance minister. Prior to his finance minister, he served as Minister of State for National Development Planning / Head of Bappenas of United Indonesia Cabinet. Sri Mulyani was previously known as an observer in the Indonesian economy. He was Head of Institute for Economic and Community Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia (UI LPEM) since June 1998. On December 5, 2005, when President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono announced a Cabinet reshuffle, Sri Mulyani moved to replace Finance Minister Jusuf Anwar. Since the year 2008, he served as Executive Task Coordinating Minister for Economy, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs after Dr. Boediono was sworn in as Governor of Bank Indonesia.

She was crowned as the best Finance Minister of Asia for the year 2006 by Emerging Markets on 18 September 2006 at the Annual Meeting between the World Bank and IMF in Singapore. She was also selected as the most influential woman in the world's 23 Forbes Magazine in 2008 and most influential woman in Indonesia's second Globe Asia magazine in October 2007.


Sri Mulyani entered the world's 100 most influential women Forbes Magazine Version. Is ranked number-23, Sri Mulyani beat other famous names such as Hillary Rodham Clinton, Aung San Suu Kyi and Oprah Winfrey.

Sri Mulyani is considered quite influential since being appointed as Minister of Finance, the Indonesian foreign exchange reserves continued to increase through the highest level of U.S. $ 50 billion. Now even the Indonesian foreign exchange reserves have penetrated U.S. $ 60 billion.

Forbes also rated, foreign investment continued to rise after the leadership of the Ministry of Finance Sri Mulyani. The woman who had just turned 46 this year to combat corruption was also considered persistent in the bureaucracy, create tax incentives and simplify the Law on Investment.

This degree of Forbes at the same time complement the various degrees obtained by this mother of three children previously. Sri Mulyani Indrawati in March and also has been named the most influential figures in Asia by the Singapore Institute of International Affairs (SIIA).

On May 5, 2010 Mulyani was appointed as one of three Managing Directors of the World Bank Group.
