Ainun Habibie The Former First Lady Passes Away

Former First Lady Ainun Habibie passed away at 5.30 pm local time on Saturday at Ludwig Maximilians Universitat, Klinikum Gro’hadern, Munchen, Germany, where she had been treated since last March.

Ali Ngabalin, a former parliament member who has been maintaining contact with former president Habibie said "Pak (Mr) Habibie told me about it at 10.48pm West Indonesia Time and he offered apologies for any of the mistakes she had committed against anyone during her life-time. He also asked all Indonesians to pray for his family," he said.


Mrs Habibie was admitted to the hospital last March and had ever since undergone several operations to remove a tumor from her lungs. Habibie was Indonesia’s third president after Soekarno and Soeharto.
