Ovarian Cancer Symptoms Early Detection

When catching the cancer in the early stages, With any cancer, chances of beating the disease are increased heavily and ovarian cancer is no exception. Unfortunately with ovarian cancer, symptoms often only show once the cancer has developed and entered the later stages of the disease. Therefore reporting symptoms to your doctor as soon as possible is hugely important. Although ovarian cancer may develop in a variety of different ways, the symptoms that are caused are often very similar. Being aware of how your body works, and what feels normal, is important in helping you to identify the changes that ovarian cancer will cause.

One of the most commonly reported symptoms is pain in the abdominal and pelvic areas. This can feel like a persistent ache, or a feeling of pressure on the abdomen. It is also common to feel pain following intercourse.

It is also common to feel more tired or fatigued than you normally would do. Feeling weaker is similarly a symptom. You may also find that you significantly gain or lose weight for inexplicable reasons. Following eating it can be common to experience changes. These changes can include indigestion, a build up of gas, or stomach upsets. You may also experience psychological symptoms, such as feeling more stressed or depressed than you normally would do.

Another change you may experience is changes to your bladder. It may feel that you are unable to empty your bladder, or that you are unable to control your bladder. This can range from urgently needing to use the toilet to incontinence. Finally, you may experience post-menopausal bleeding.

When diagnosing these 3 symptoms in yourself, it is important that you are aware of how your body normally acts, and whether it is experiencing anything out of the ordinary. This can be hard when you are thinking about other things, but taking time to focus on you and how you are feeling could make a big difference. Some of these symptoms may have more impact on you than others, and may cause you to act faster than others. Losing weight, for example, or stomach upsets may not be a trigger to act in the same way that abdominal pain may be. A good rule of thumb to follow is to be aware of these symptoms and monitor how long they last for. With ovarian cancer symptoms will only remain constant or deteriorate, they will rarely improve. If they continue for up to two weeks, it is advisable to talk to your doctor.
