Sexy Lingerie

Lingerie is a term for fashionable and notionally alluring undergarments. It derives from the French word linge, "washables" — as in faire le linge, "do the laundry" — and ultimately from lin for washable linen, the fabric from which European undergarments were made before the general introduction of cotton from Egypt and then from India.

The term in the French language applies to all undergarments for either gender. In English it is applied specifically to those undergarments designed to be visually appealing or erotic, typically incorporating materials such as Lycra, nylon (nylon tricot), polyester, satin, lace, sheer and/or silk and not applied to functional cotton undergarments. It is commonly pronounced in English with a faux French pronunciation (such as LONJ-er-ee in British pronunciation or lonj-er-AY in the doubly non-French American pronunciation.) True French pronunciation is lan-zhree

The lingerie industry has expanded in the 21st century with designs that double as outerwear. The French refer to this as 'dessous-dessus' which basically means innerwear as outerwear. The boutique Faire Frou Frou, which is an antiquated phrase meaning "show it off", heralds this philosophy by categorizing lingerie as an accessory with details such as straps and lace trim that should be layered and shown as part of one's outerwear.

Sexy lingerie styles for women change from year to year. However, one thing that does not change is the powerful appeal that sexy lingerie has not only for the man who sees it, but also, for the woman who wears it.

Although most people probably define sexy lingerie as something that is barely there, barely visible, or hardly there at all, the truth of the matter is simply that with sexy lingerie, less is usually better. To be sexy, one must feel sexy. It’s all in the fabric, the color, and the image.

From soft, flimsy see-through panties and camisoles to delicate, lacy panty and bra sets, a woman’s arsenal of lingerie is constantly changing as the seasons change, and sometimes as her body shape changes. Fortunately, lingerie manufacturers know how to create new and dazzling designs and women certainly know how to buy them.

From little girl pink to sex maven red, an entire entourage of colors is presented in a seemingly endless array of brassieres, thongs, garter belts, and more. What women buy is mostly a matter of personal preference - sometimes hers and sometimes his. After all, if a woman were trying to seduce a man, she would do best to select a color that he finds appealing.

Additionally, certain holidays bring about the appearance of special colors in special patterns. Valentine’s Day, in particular, issues forth an entire line of red hearts, pink hearts, or pink and red hearts intermingled together much in the same way as the hearts of two lovers.

Knowing what to buy is more a matter of trial and error. Of course, there’s different styles for different purposes and as long as a woman considers the reason behind the lingerie, she will have no problem deciding just exactly which pair of skimpy panties, tiny thongs, or push-up bras to purchase. Sexy lingerie does after all have many purposes.
