The Benefits of Friendship for Women

Women need friendships. This has been proven, and this bond could provide a unique advantage.

Basically, women want to have a bond and create intimacy, one of which is the bond of friendship. Not just "had friends", but the bond of friendship appears to have other benefits to one's self. Here are some things that are known by scientists about the power of friendship:

Make Large barriers into small one
In a study reported by the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, the researchers asked the study participants to stand under a steep hill, then they were asked to estimate how hard to climb. Participants who stood with friends is not as difficult as estimating incline to climb than those who stand alone. Moreover, the longer the friendship you have, the more confident they can overcome the steepness of the hill.

Could beat the disease
A study which was held at Harvard University study showed that breast cancer patients who do not have friends 4 times greater risk of dying from the disease than someone who is experiencing the same disease but have 10 friends or more. Studies also show that social support can help lower blood pressure, keep the mind from dementia, and reduce the risk of depression.

Able to cope with stress
When women experience stress, his brain release happy hormones, oxytocin, which is pushing to establish ties. While male brains, are more susceptible to the effects of the hormone cortisol and adrenaline that drives the response to fight or leave. By Terri Apter, professor of Psychology at the University of Cambridge, women are more effective response in dealing with stress and this could be the reason why women tend to live longer than men.
